Refund & Cancellation Policy
First updated: August 2026
This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to all tickets purchased through the MyAccessPlug (“MAP”) platform. It should be read alongside our Terms of Use and any additional refund terms displayed by an individual event organizer at checkout. Where an organizer's published terms conflict with this Policy, the organizer's terms apply to that event only to the extent they are not less favourable to the buyer than what is stated here.
1. MAP's Role
MAP is a ticketing platform and payment facilitator. Events listed on MAP are created, priced, and operated by independent event organizers (“Organizers”). Except where stated otherwise, MAP processes payments and refunds on the Organizer's behalf and in line with the Organizer's stated policy for that event, but is not the promoter of the event itself.
2. General Rule — Tickets Are Non-Refundable Unless Stated
Except as set out in this Policy, all sales are final. Buyers should carefully review event details, date, venue, and the Organizer's specific refund terms (shown on the event page) before completing a purchase, as most “change of mind” requests cannot be accommodated.
3. Event Cancellation by the Organizer
- If an event is fully cancelled by the Organizer and not rescheduled, buyers are entitled to a refund of the ticket's face value.
- MAP's non-refundable service/convenience fee (charged at checkout) is excluded from the refund unless the Organizer elects to cover it, or unless required otherwise by applicable law.
- Refunds for cancelled events are processed to the original payment method within 14 business days of the cancellation being confirmed and funds being made available to MAP by the Organizer.
- Where an Organizer fails to fund a required refund, MAP will make reasonable efforts to recover the amount from the Organizer's settlement balance or security holdback, but MAP's liability to advance refunds from its own funds is limited as set out in our Terms of Use.
4. Event Postponement or Rescheduling
- Where an event is postponed or rescheduled, existing tickets generally remain valid for the new date, and no automatic refund is issued.
- Buyers who cannot attend the new date may request a refund within 14 days of the new date being announced; requests made after this window may be declined.
- Refunds for postponed events, where approved, follow the same processing timeline and fee treatment as Section 3.
5. Cancellation, Suspension, or Refusal by MAP
MAP may cancel or refund a ticket, or suspend access to it, where:
- The transaction is reasonably suspected to be fraudulent, unauthorized, or in breach of our Terms of Use (including ticket touting or bot purchases);
- A payment is charged back, reversed, or fails post-issuance verification;
- MAP is required to do so by a regulator, law enforcement, or court order;
- Continuing to process the transaction would expose MAP, the Organizer, or attendees to legal or safety risk.
In such cases, MAP will notify the buyer and, where a refund is due, process it using the method set out in Section 8.
6. Buyer-Initiated Cancellations (Change of Mind)
Because tickets are date- and inventory-specific, MAP does not generally offer refunds for change-of-mind cancellations. Some Organizers may voluntarily offer flexible cancellation, exchange, or transfer options. Where available, these will be clearly stated on the event page and are subject to that Organizer's specific terms and timeline.
7. Non-Refundable Items
- MAP service/convenience fees and payment gateway charges, except where an event is cancelled by MAP or required by law;
- Delivery, courier, or physical merchandise/add-on charges once dispatched;
- Amounts already redeemed, checked in, or used at the event.
8. Refund Method and Timeline
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout (card, bank transfer, or wallet, as applicable).
- Standard processing time is 7–14 business days from approval, though the buyer's bank or card issuer may take longer to reflect the credit.
- MAP does not issue cash refunds or refunds to a different account/card than the one used for payment, except where the original method is no longer available and alternative verification is completed.
9. Failed, Duplicate, or Erroneous Transactions
Where a payment is deducted but no ticket is issued (failed transaction), or a buyer is charged more than once for the same order (duplicate transaction), the excess amount will be identified through reconciliation with our payment partner and refunded automatically or upon request, typically within 5–10 business days.
10. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Buyers are encouraged to contact MAP support before initiating a chargeback with their bank or card issuer, as this allows us to resolve most issues faster. Fraudulent or abusive chargebacks (e.g., disputing a valid transaction after attending the event) may result in account suspension, and MAP reserves the right to recover chargeback fees and provide evidence of the transaction to the payment provider or bank.
11. Organizer Obligations and Payout Holdback
Organizers are required to maintain sufficient funds or accept a settlement holdback sufficient to cover reasonably anticipated refunds (e.g., for high-risk or pre-sale events). MAP may withhold, delay, or deduct from an Organizer's payout to fund legitimate buyer refunds arising from cancellation, fraud, or non-delivery of the event.
12. Force Majeure
Where an event is affected by circumstances beyond the Organizer's or MAP's reasonable control (including but not limited to natural disasters, government action, public health emergencies, strikes, or security incidents), refund eligibility and timelines will be handled on a case-by-case basis, guided by the Organizer's published policy, applicable law, and this Policy's cancellation provisions.
13. How to Request a Refund
- Log into your MAP account and locate the order under “My Tickets,” or
- Contact support at [email protected] with your order/ticket reference, event name, and reason for the request.
- MAP will acknowledge refund requests within 2–3 business days and provide a decision within 14 business days, except where it depends on funds being received from the Organizer.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
This Policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from a refund decision that cannot be resolved through MAP's support process may be referred to mediation/arbitration or the courts as set out in our Terms of Use, without prejudice to any statutory rights the buyer may have under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018.
